Going to surf city gonna
have some fun! The FreeStyler board is a blast to use. Its
one of those controllers that adds a whole new dimension to the
games. Its a bit like the full stand up arcade machines where you
stand in front of a big screen and ski or board down a mountain. The
difference is your TV is usually smaller, you won't need to drop 2 weeks
of laundry quarters for 5 minutes of play and it in your living
room.
The board was first put to
work with a game from the Cool Boarders series. I am a goofy-foot
rider and selected that option in the menu. I programmed the rear
button of the board for the jump action and the front button for a stunt
action. The handheld was used for the other actions in the
game. I played for a solid hour trying to stay quiet so my fiancé
didn't hear what I was up to. Unfortunately she checked in with me
and stopped my fun. Not turning off the machine mind you, but taking
over the board and leaving me as a spectator!
When I finally go the board
back for more testing I used it for other games including other
snowboarding and skateboarding games. With skate games I programmed
the rear button as the kick action and the front for the most common stunt
action. With all of the games I played I used the hand held
controller although I did test the function of using another
controller. Another controller hooks up and operates fine but the
controller that comes with the board is best used since it offers one
handed control. You need to have both hands apart for balance and to
better allow you to shift your weight for tight turns. None of the
other controllers I used allowed this.
